New To Omkara?

New students are very welcome and will be assessed and placed into the appropriate level class by the teacher. Omkara encourages perseverance and requests all new students to commit to Omkara for a minimum of one full year once joined. It is strongly advised that students stay with the same group and not miss classes as it is easy to fall behind and catching up may require extra classes to be booked.

☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ NEW - DANCE EXAMINATIONS ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆

We're pleased to announce that Omkara now offers Bharata Natyam Examinations and / or Certifications to interested students via ISTD (Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing) UK and CID (International Council of Dance) France.

ISTD Exams

ISTD (Imperial Society for Teachers of Dancing) is a government recognised dance teaching organisation and examination board, which trains and certifies teachers to deliver its syllabus to students in both private and mainstream dance education.

It is one of the world’s leading dance examination boards with the widest range of dance genres available, and is a registered educational charity, supporting and training members through a wide variety of courses, teaching syllabi and techniques.

Bharata Natyam exams are offered from levels 1 - 6, and more information can be accessed here.

International students can take dance exams provided by ISTD remotely via Zoom with an ISTD appointed examiner.

Interested students should apply through Omkara - please email or call Sujatha to discuss.

Please note that the syllabus is extensive and classes will need to be organised to prepare and learn the material. Extra learning supports can be purchased from ISTD for a fee, and exam costs are per interested candidate.

We're happy to extend the opportunity for assessment to students learning from other Gurus as well. If you're a Bharata Natyam student learning elsewhere in Switzerland and wish to take the exam - or if you're a Bharata Natyam teacher who'd like to offer your students the ISTD exame - please get in touch with Sujatha at sujatha_venk@hotmail.com.
